Predator/Prey Relationships:
1) One example of a predator/prey relationship in the saltwater biome is the great white shark and the sea lion. 2) A second example of predator/prey relationships, is a tuna which feeds on many smaller fish, crustaceans, and squids. Role of Predation: Predation can have a large affect on a population and it's dynamics. All organisms need food to survive, so that is where predation comes in. Predation is the killing and consumption of prey, therefore it has a large impact on the diversity of species. Most of the time, predation leads to an increase in population of the predator, but a decrease in the population of the prey. |
